It's not a ship I'll intentionally seek out. I see it more as a one way celebrity idolization, with neither party actually romantically interested the other.Īgain, I perosnally view it more of a one way celebrity crush/idolization. Going to try to msotly keep to ingame or mostly reasonable assumptions based off what IS presented in game. Originally posted by ditt_25:Let's see multiple angles here. And I feel so proud that I finally see things as they are :D They're all just the same, and some of them are in love with each other. After playing Undertale, most of the time I don't even think about those. Honestly, before playing Undertale, I already knew that the correct thing to do was to be open-minded and to not feel awkward everytime you hear that someone is agender or gay or whatever, but I couldn't help it. Plus, I've seen some fanart of Mettaton wearing all kinds of clothes (male and female clothes) and even though I don't like Mettaton's personality, it's true that they(?) look fabulous whatever they(?) wear lol. Mettaton looks and sounds more like a man than like a woman, but, if I remember correctly, nobody ever mentions their(?) gender, and it kind of makes sense because GHOST (?). They never mention the gender of the main character either (obviously) even though they date two characters in the game (or two and a half, since the date with Alphys was fake, but that's not the point). They never mention Alphys and Undyne being gay or bisexual or whatever. One thing I love about Undertale is that gender literally does not matter. But if that ship is a tactfully handled background element, it won't be enough to turn me off an AU/fic/comic I otherwise enjoy, either. Given that, I'm pretty sure that if gender matters to Papyrus, he already knows MTT isn't a lady.Ģ]Papyrus and MTT are both VERY confident in themselves and also normally speak in all caps (although some argue Papyrus's confidence is actually overcompsation for his lack of confidence).ģ]Papyrus refers to MTT as a "sexy rectangle" at one point.Ĥ]Both are proud of their fashion sense (Battle Body and the basketballs vs just about everything MTT related).Īnd yeah, even though it's mostly circumstantial or open to interpretation, that's actually far more/better "evidence" than a lot of noncanon ships in various media have going for them.Īgain, I perosnally view it more of a one way celebrity crush/idolization. WHAT INGAME EVIDENCE IS THERE TO ENCOURAGE THE SHIP?ġ]Papyrus is a HUGE fan of the show (but so is Napstablook) and has so much of the merchandise, as shown in the boss fight Vs Papyrus. So MTT being a "he" could be more a self-identity thing than a biological thing?Ģ]Um, do you really think Papyrus is that saavy on everything dating related, given the date with the human and his overall innocence.ģ]Monsters/The Underground seems more open to the possibility of same gender relations than many parts of our own world anyways. Mostly about "Also here another question im concerned, is there a reason someone made this shipment ?"īUT MTT IS A DUDE! (which doesn't really matter)ġ]All ghosts, including the one that used to be MTT, were exclusively referred to with "they" pronouns while still in ghost form. Even though certain portrayals of some of those, whether as background elements or even primary point of the fanwork, have individually turned out okay.īut, anyways, back on topic.

I actually feel the EXTREME overabundance of a few Sans-based ships (and the extreme actions of it's fans) is a far worse problem. I see it more as a one way celebrity idolization, with neither party actually romantically interested the other.
